When Will the Great Tribulation Begin?

If you study the Bible, you already know the answer to this question. The Bible makes it very clear. I don't need to give you my interpretation on it, or my point of view or even what I think. There are several very definite indications that won't leave any doubt when that time comes.

A verse in Matthew 24 says: "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."

It is on the strength of that one verse that some Christians are of the mind that it's "none of our business" to know anything about when or how or what time Jesus plans to return. Well, if it's "none of our business", why did Jesus give us so many signs and clues as to when and how it was all going to go down? What about the other 50 verses in that chapter?

Do some people pick up the Bible, read one verse and then drop the Bible again, as though it's a hot potato? As if to say, "Ok, I read it. Now I know everything. Everything's clear."

Reading the Bible has never been like that. It's not a one-time read. It's not even a one-time study. We have to keep going back to it every day. Daily. Yes, daily.

If we look around us, it should stir up within us an insatiable desire to want to read what the scripture says about this time we are living in right now. Take a look! Look up into the sky. The moon is turning to blood! (Revelation 6:12)

Luke 21:25 says: "And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;"

You don't need to read Nostradamus's predictions. You don't need to go to a fortune teller or prophet. Jesus was a Prophet. He still is a Prophet. But, much, much more than a Prophet! If you will receive it, Jesus is God. He is equal to God, God' only begotten Son. So, of course, He is the greatest Prophet that ever lived. Is there any question about that?

If that's all true, why wouldn't we all be studying his prophecies? That's where you'll get the most accurate time-line. All we have to do is read the words of Jesus. He was the Word. He is the Word.

Signs Jesus Gave us to Tell When the Great Tribulation Will Begin:
1. Matthew 24:15 and 21
"When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place,...
"For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be."

The "holy place" is Jerusalem. I think that's pretty clear. Jesus said "when ye therefore shall see". We will be able to see it with these physical, mortal eyes. It will be a physical thing, a terrible and powerful "thing", maybe some type of computerized idol. And how will we see it if we are not physically in Jerusalem?

Doh! That's a no-brainer, right?

All this technology we take for granted these days is in itself another sign of the times.

When will the "abomination of desolation" stand in the "holy place"? Ok, let's cut through the suspense here. It's going to happen in the middle of the LAST SEVEN YEARS.

Three and a half years into the seven year "peace agreement", (which, btw, hasn't been confirmed YET) the peace agreement (or covenant) will be broken by the Anti-Christ. And then, begins the Great Tribulation.

2. Daniel 9:27
"And he (the Anti-Christ or beast of Revelation or one-world leader) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week (7 years): and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate." (The New World Order is upon us. Is Pope Francis the "false prophet"?)

3. Daniel 12:11
"And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days." THEN Jesus returns.

4. Mark 13:14-27
"But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:
15 And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take anything out of his house:
16 And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.
17 But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
18 And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter,
19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.
20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.
21 And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:
22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.
23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things. (That's because JESUS IS A PROPHET.)
24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.
26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven." (That's very good news!)

5. Mark 13:32-37
"32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. (Here's that verse people use to excuse their ignorance of the end of days.)
33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

"Watch and pray." Jesus used the word "watch" four times in this passage. Maybe we should watch.
AND PRAY.

Homo Naledi --A New Species?

Recently, archaeologists, digging in South Africa, claimed to have discovered a new species! They call it "Homo Naledi". And, apparently, they have discovered, not one, but fifteen of these so-called new species. My. My.

In my own sarcastic and sardonic way, I would have to laugh and say,

"Seriously? You really want us to believe that? Do you also have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell us?"

Why is it that Christians are constantly told to prove that their God exists? Yet, these so-called scientists make outrageous declarations and are believed without question. Why don't they have to prove to us that what they dug up is not human?

They have feet like humans. Amazing.

In fact, the entire skeleton is very humanlike. The only difference is that these creatures were only five feet tall.

Why wouldn't your first assumption be that they were short humans? Why would your first assumption be that they were some "new species" from millions of years ago that were miraculously preserved because no water had touched them? And, why would you build a case to prove your theory? Isn't that working backwards?

A scientist is supposed to find evidence to build their theory, not to support their theory.

My first reaction upon seeing a picture of the skeletons was that they were in fine condition and couldn't have been very old. They probably came from a family tomb of African pygmies.

This is all conjecture and what we used to call "common sense" and I'm not even an archaeologist. But, you know, sometimes common sense is all it takes. And to be able to recognise when people are truly going off the deep end.

Anthropologists define pygmy as a member of any group having an average height below 1.55 meters (5 feet 1 inch). Here's what Pygmies look like. --Bare any resemblance to the Homo Naledi?

How would you feel if some archaeologists dug up your bones and proclaimed that you were a "new species"?

The Age of the Earth by Simple Addition

I'll just finish up here with the rest of the first chapter of Genesis and then we'll get down to how to discover (approximately) how old our planet really is.

Genesis 1

Day  5

20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

21 And God created great wales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and everything that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

(In the beginning, both animals and humans were vegetarian.)

31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

After that, you could say the earth was 6 days old. Man and woman were new-born adults. Not only were Adam and Eve born as adults, but their lives were different from ours in many ways. For one thing, their lifespans were much longer than what we would call a normal lifespan.

(People lived longer lives up until the flood, at which time, the protective layer of the firmament was broken up causing rain to fall for the first time on the earth. Following the flood, lifespans became shorter and shorter until, today, our life expectancy has gone down to just over half a century. As we say, "Life is short.")

Adam lived 935 years!

Does that mean that the serpent was right?
Genesis 3:4 "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:"

No, the serpent was dead wrong because Adam and Eve died. Although God had apparently originally intended them to live forever, their lives ended after 900 years or so. But, still, that gave Adam enough time to directly pass on his knowledge to the next few generations of his offspring.

Ok, there may be a lot of questions resulting from the reading of Genesis 1. But, for the moment, let's jump to Genesis 5. This is where we can pinpoint the length of years that passed by before the flood.

The flood, of course, is the great game-changer, the cataclysmic turning  point in early history that brought about total destruction of every life form on the planet except for one man and his family.

Now, if we play a little "leap-frogging" (the years overlap from birth to birth or begat to begat), we can easily add up the years from Day 6 to the beginning of the flood. Using the genealogy of chapter 5, I come up with 1,656 years.

The next genealogy appears in Genesis, chapter 11, starting at verse 10. So, we can continue to add. Up until the birth of Abraham was another 352, which gives us a total of 2,008 years from creation to the birth of Abraham.

Jacob (Israel) was born 160 years later, a total of 2,168 years. He lived to 147 years old. But if we calculate from Israel's arrival in Egypt until the exodus, it is 430 years, bringing us to 2,728 years. Solomon began work on the temple 480 years after that, which brings us to 3208 years. (I Kings 6:1)

345 years later, the children of Israel were exiled to Babylon. The earth was 3553 years old at that time. About 60 years later, went forth a decree to rebuild Jerusalem (in 538 BC).

In Daniel 9:25, Daniel receives a prophecy telling him that Jesus will come 483 years after the decree to rebuild Jerusalem.

Jesus was born at about 2 BC. According to my calculations, the earth was approximately 4,096 at the birth of Christ. So, to that we can just add 2,015 which equals 2017. 4,096 + 2,017 = 6,113 give or take.

Taking into consideration that the Jewish calendar differs from the Roman calendar, there may be some discrepancy. But a few hundred years either side of 6,000 doesn't change things that much.

How to Calculate the Age of the Earth

In order to estimate the earth's age, we must locate a starting point. Somewhere we can place the measuring tape.

That's what Genesis is. It's the starting point. My "Little Oxford Dictionary" defines genesis as: the origin or development of something. In this case, our universe.

This is what happened on Day 2 of Creation:

Genesis 1

6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

Just as an interesting note here: One may think that, "Oh, the water above the firmament is the clouds!" But, actually, Genesis says that it didn't rain upon the earth. So, no clouds. Which, is another reason why I am a believer in the theory that there was a "womb" (if you will) of water surrounding the earth to protect it from the destructive radiation from the sun, as well as to maintain a constant, warm temperature. (After all, Adam and Eve were naked. God wouldn't have wanted them to catch cold.)

Day 3:

9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

Are you still with me? Another point of interest is that man (playing around with God's creation) has tampered with GMO's to the point that much of our fruit and vegetables no longer produce viable seed. I wonder if Monsanto would like our next generation to believe that seeds come from Monsanto?

...and that they were not freely given to us by our Creator who, from the beginning provided abundantly above all we ever needed? No such thing any more as a "seed crop" because the crop won't produce seeds! The farmer has to go out and buy them, making him dependent on the seed seller for his next harvest.

Day 4:

14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

It seems that on the 4th day, God focused on making a beautiful light show FOR US. Is it narcissistic to believe that the sun, moon and stars were made by God especially for us? Us earthlings?

The Age of the Earth

Ok, now, do I have to convince you that a DAY equals a DAY? Because I know the first thing people (even Bible-believing Christians) say is that:

"Well, a 'day' maybe wasn't an actual 'day' as we know it."

Why not?

Why? Because six days is not enough time for God to have created the world? How long should it have taken? A billion trillion years? Is that enough time for this marvel of our earth to have been created?

Let me tell you, if it took that long, we'd be up to our eye-balls in debris from all the dead stuff. Where is the evidence of that? Billions of years of dinosaurs.

Now, maybe, in order to even allow yourself to conceive of such a thing as the earth being created in only six days by the voice of God, you may have to shut down your brain. You may have to try to disregard what secular schools have force-fed you throughout your education.

In order to open yourself up to new "ideas" (or what I call "facts"), you may have to unthink. Because, WHAT IF what they taught you was WRONG? What if that? Can you even imagine that to be a possibility?

If you can't, don't bother reading on. What I'm about to tell you will be way out in left field and totally impossible to accept. What I'm about to tell you is from the Bible. It's God's explanation of what happened on "DAY ONE".

Ok, again, you may ask, "How can you say that God wrote the book of Genesis?"

Moses wrote it! If you know anything about Moses, you know that God spoke to him face to face. That's where the Ten Commandments came from. (Maybe you saw the movie?) God wrote the commandments with his finger in the slabs of stone.

So, if we start with the premise that God spoke to Moses and told him what happened in the beginning, then let's go from there to Genesis chapter one, verse one.

Now, you may think that the logical thing for God to do first was to create the sun. He didn't. He created light first. HA! I told you you'd have to shut off your brain for this one!

Genesis 1

1 In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.

That covers everything in our universe then, doesn't it? I guess God knows that that's all we need to know, as far as how, when and "what went before?"

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

God SPOKE and it was DONE.

What was there before this happened?  Emptiness. Darkness. And apparently water.

You sort of get the picture of God coming over to this dark, empty ball that's sitting in water, just waiting. It's interesting that we know now that, in order for a planet to be capable of life, it must have water.

Water is an amazing thing.

4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. (He called the light what? Day? So that means a day IS a day?) And the evening and the morning were the first day. (The first what? Day? So, does it mean that it's possible God meant "day" when He said "day" and that He meant six days when He said, "six days"?

What God didn't say was, "And the evening and the morning were the sixth aeon." God didn't say, "And billions upon billions of evenings and billions upon billions of mornings were the sixth day.")

My God, My God, Why...?

Jesus faced his accusers and executioners in total silence. It was a notable silence. Considering the circumstances, it was an unexpected silence.

Isaiah 53 verse 7 says:

"He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth."

Even the high priest seemed a bit baffled by Jesus' silence. In Mark 14:60 it says:

"And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?" And the next verse says:

"But he held his peace, and answered nothing..."

Here is the high priest, trying to get the "criminal" to say something --anything. After all, even the high priest knew that the so-called witnesses were lying and falsely accusing Jesus. Yet Jesus had nothing to say? Strange.

So, the high priest, wanting to make sure he had the right man, asked Jesus,

"Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?"

Verse 62 says: "And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven."

Finally! Jesus spoke! Now they had something to accuse him of! BLASPHEMY!

BUT. The high priest had no authority to condemn a man to death and Rome didn't care whether or not a Jew blasphemed against God. It wasn't their God.

Anyway, Jesus was crucified. He spoke a few words directly afterwards. Luke recorded it in chapter 23:34:

"Then said Jesus, Father forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots."

Just before his death, Jesus spoke again. Matthew 27:46 says:

"And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"

Those standing nearby may have thought that Jesus was crying out to God because He felt God had forsaken him. And, I often wondered about that myself. Jesus had so little to say, why would He have said such a negative thing in such a loud voice? Wouldn't that have cast doubt on people, making them think that God had forsaken Jesus?

If you know the Word of God, you have the answer! If you know the words of King David, you know that Jesus was quoting his own namesake! He was, with his last words, directing all of us to Psalm 22! Why?

Because Psalm 22 contains the prophetic words of David, concerning the death of our Saviour!

I believe that David had been experiencing some of the same agony as our Lord, when he wrote these words.

Psalm 22

1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me and from the words of my roaring?

2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

(Verses 6-8)

6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

8 He trusted on the Lord that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.

(This is what the people were saying. "You saved others, so come down from the cross!")

14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.

(This is probably exactly how Jesus felt.)

15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws: and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.

18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

19 But be not thou far from me, O Lord: O my strength, haste thee to help me.

Then, verse 27 says:

"All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.

28 For the kingdom is the Lord's: and he is the governor among the nations."

Pride is a Killer!

Human pride is actually a terrible thing. It causes lots of problems. Pride can damn you to hell if you don't watch out. Thinking there is anything "good" in us is just wrong. We can't trust ourselves. We can't really guarantee that we will be able to do anything good or right.

That may sound extreme. But if you think about it, it's really not.

Humans are fallible. We are full of sin. There is nothing good about us, God knows. Paul said it about himself. Jesus knew it.

So, when we want to pat ourselves on the back for something we've done, that very feeling is called "pride". When we feel pretty good about ourselves and our accomplishments, that's when we need to stop and think. Whatever we feel we have accomplished could have easily gone the other way. We could have failed. We could be that guy out on the street, pan-handling for his next dime. He's got a story, too. In fact, maybe pride got him where he landed. Pride will do that to a person.

You think you know it all. You don't need to listen to anyone. After all, you've been around the block quite a few times and gathered all the latest intel, so why should you need to listen to someone who is probably a lot less intelligent than you are?

You know that feeling of judging someone? It's when you put a nice neat label on a person. We all do it. As soon as you take your first look at someone, you put a label on them. You may ask a few random questions just to confirm your estimation of them, but you can pretty much size them up in the first few seconds. You have seen this type of person before. You know exactly what level on the scale they have attained to and, you figure, maybe you're being generous in your calculations. Certainly, at any rate, they are beneath you. In fact, not many can measure up to your standards.

This is the way we humans tend to think "in the natural". When I say "in the natural", I mean, without God's Spirit of Love. Without humility.

Pride will lead us to judge. Pride will always keep us head and shoulders above our brethren. Being beneath another person is just too uncomfortable. We hate it when someone looks down on us! That is a rotten feeling.

So, we are careful to choose the right clothes, the right shoes, the right hair style, the right deodorant, etc. We may think we're doing it for ourselves, but, the fact is, we do it all for others.

If there were no other people in the world, you could walk around naked. Or, at least, you could wear the same shirt every day and never bother to comb your hair.

Ok, maybe a teensy bit of pride is necessary. Just as long as we don't let pride dictate.

When pride dictates, men believe themselves to be God, to be infallible. They make the laws and make others abide by the strictest application of the law. There is no mercy. They don't want mercy even for themselves because they want everyone to know that they are perfect.

Yike.

Humility esteems others to be better than oneself.

Yes, even the cleaning lady. Even the garbage pickers. Seriously? Yep. I think we have to esteem everyone to be better in some way than ourselves in order to strike a balance. Otherwise, who is better than me? The president of the United States? And, by whose standards am I judging?

Seriously, in God's eyes, we really should esteem everyone to be better than ourselves. That's playing it safe. That's calling for humility. When you humble yourself, then you allow God to put you at the correct level, the way God sees you. But, if you put yourself up, God will probably have to come along and knock you down off your high horse.

Why not play it safe? Admit your weaknesses to God and others.

You say, "Even my wife?!"

Even your wife. She already knows what your level is anyway. You can't fool her. And you can't fool God either.

I think it's safe to say that pride is the root of all evil. Pride is at the bottom of all great mistakes.

Don't Talk to Dead People

If I may be so bold as to suggest: Do not talk to the dead.

King Saul tried it. He got a witch to call the prophet Samuel up. Samuel's reaction was this: I Samuel 28:15 "And Samuel said to Saul, Why has thou disquieted me, to bring me up?"

I personally don't think we should talk to those who have gone on. Their life is over in this realm. Let them be. If they happen to want to peek in on us once in a while, that's all good. But, why disturb them?

Think about this, now. Mary, the mother of Jesus, who died 2,000 years ago has people calling on her every day!

"Pray for us! Pray for us!"

But, why should a dead woman, who has gone on to her reward pray for anyone down here? Prayer is for live people. It's our connection with Jesus, Who connects us with God.

What would you want Mary to pray? She isn't omniscient or omnipresent to know your thoughts. She was just a human being. That's all. Yes, and the mother of our Lord, let's not belittle that. And I'm not. But, in spite of her marvellous sacrifice and her faith and obedience to God, Mary was, after all, only human. She is not Jesus.

Mary is not the Mediator between God and man. That would be her son, Jesus.

I understand that Catholics may feel "unworthy" to talk to Jesus and all that, but, really, in all honesty, that's a load of hog-wash. Just because you feel unworthy doesn't give you the right to go bothering Mary, trying to get her to pray for you. What if she just says,

"Nope. Can't do."

What if that?

What if YOU'RE supposed to pray for YOURSELF? What if God expects that of you? If you are a truly born-again, spirit-filled believer, it should come natural to you to pray! You should be praying ALL the TIME, calling out to God, asking Him for help, praising Him and thanking Him for His goodness.

The Apostle Paul told the churches to pray without ceasing. Don't stop praying.

Sorry, but being "unworthy" is really no excuse for not praying to God and wanting to hide behind a woman's skirts. (I'm laying this on thick because it sort of makes me mad that people pretend they need Mary to pray for them, when really, it's just a type of false humility or self-righteousness.)

We don't need Mary to pray for us! She has better things to do. It's not her job! It's not her calling. So, quit bothering the poor woman. She's had her life. She's said her prayers. Now she can probably talk to God face to face whenever she wants. We don't have that privilege down here on good old planet earth. That's why Jesus told us to pray!

If you don't know how to pray, you really ought to learn fast! Prayer is your life-line! Things are getting heated up. Things are getting tougher down here every day. So, if you don't have your own personal connection to Jesus, our King and Commander in Chief, you're going to be in hot water. We all need prayer, desperately. No other human being is going to represent you before God.

Did you get that?

No other human being is going to represent you to God! Not your brother! Not your sister! Not your pastor! Not the pope! And certainly not the Virgin Mary. You will stand alone before God. So, why not start now?

Pray your own prayers! Pray from the heart. Praying is just talking to your best Friend and getting everything off your chest. It's easy. Quit making hard work out of all the fun! Prayer is fun! It's simple.

All you have to do is pray to God in the name of Jesus Christ. He is the router. Jesus is the Mediator. He paid for the privilege. He wants to hear your prayers and answer every one of them. And He does. And He wants to have a personal relationship with every one of us! He loves you like only He can.

I don't think you can say the same about Mary because I don't think she knows you. (If I'm wrong, Mary, you can correct me on this.) Seriously, why would Mary know you? She was only human and she lived 2,000 years ago. A lot of people have come and gone since then. It's mesmerising.

I wonder whether Mary says the same thing as Samuel said when people ask her to pray for them.
"Why has thou disquieted me, to bring me up?" -- In other words, "Why are you bothering me?"

Ok, one last thing and I'll let it lie. Just this. I don't know WHOSE idea it was to ask Mary to pray for us. But, it was a BAD idea! It is totally unscriptural. That means, it is not Biblical. It's yet another false doctrine like the Pre-tribulation Rapture Theory. It is not in God's Word. So, why do it? Don't be a lemur. Have your own relationship with God and quit bothering Mary!

Rebuttal to Julia Roberts' Narrative

Recently, there was a post narrated by Julia Roberts from "Mysterious Things in the World". In it was stated (as though actual fact) that the earth is billions of years old and that it was here long before we were. Also, Mother Nature declared that she had destroyed species more powerful than humans.

Is it just me, or did Mother Nature sound a little nasty and defiant there at the end? Like,

"You guys are insignificant. Better get on that evolving thing or you're outta here." Like,

"Don't let the evolving door hit you in the butt on the way out."

Sheesh.

Ok, well here's the thing, Julia or Mother Nature: This planet was made FOR us by God. If there were no humans on this planet, there would be no purpose for the earth to exist.

OUCH! I can hear a lot of screaming.

Mankind will not go extinct. Sorry, folks. Mother Earth or Mother Nature is not in control. She doesn't call the shots. And she is not a prophetess. She really isn't THAT OLD either!

Come on!

According to the so-called scientists, the earth gets millions of years older every time they talk about it. You see, the older the earth is, the less chance there is of God being in complete control. Which, He is. As much as the devil would like to think he is in control, that's just not true.

It LOOKS like he's in control. In fact, the earth is his domain and he gets to play God and control those who allow him to control them.

He tells lots and lots of lies to cloud the water and deceive those who will be deceived. And, unfortunately, he has found a lot of gullible humans to swallow up whatever huge fairy tale he comes up with next.

Like, for instance: the fairy tale of the fish that became a frog, crawled up on the land and "poof!" became a prince! It only took about 200 billion years or so. Come on, now!

Have you ever seen an ape turn into a man? No? The reason you haven't is because one species does NOT evolve into a different species. Of course, they can become genetically modified with human intervention, but that doesn't mean that they can reproduce.

Take, for example, a mule. A mule is the offspring of a donkey and a horse. These two species can come together and reproduce but their offspring will be unable to reproduce. Thus the chain ends there.

Genesis chapter 1 says:
1 In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. (Just to make things clear, the next verse tells what the earth looked like "in the beginning".)

2 And the earth was without form, and void; (woops! no dinosaurs?) and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

If you're wondering what happens next, you can read the rest of that chapter. Meanwhile, take a look in Job, chapter 40:

15 Behold now behemoth (a dinosaur) which I MADE WITH THEE: he eateth grass as an ox. (Right here, God is speaking and just happens to mention that he created the dinosaur at the same time as he created humans; plus we already know that by reading Genesis.)

16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

17 He moves his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

18 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

19 He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.

(That is one HUGE creature!)

ANOTHER DINOSAUR:

Job 41 talks about Leviathan. Job says "shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him? None is so fierce that dare stir him up..."

Job 41:14 "Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about,
15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
16 One is so near to another, that no air can come between  them.
19 Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.
20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.
21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.

We are talking about a fire-breathing dragon here! Right in the Bible!

27 He esteems iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.
28 The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
29 Darts are counted as stubble: he laughs at the shaking of a spear.

No, Julia or Mother Nature, the dinosaurs were NOT here before man. We were here from the beginning, created in the image of God on the 6th day along WITH the dinosaurs who were also created the same day.

As for the age of the earth, let's leave that for another blog post.

My Favourite Chapter

Matthew 5
1 And seeing the multitudes, He went up into a mountain: and when He was set, his disciples came unto Him:
2 And He opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in Heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Rejoice? How can you rejoice when someone is persecuting you?
Well, here's your chance to shine! Here's your opportunity to really witness your faith in God! "There is no testimony without a test!"

13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Keep your salt salted. Keep reading the Word and praying. Read the Word in faith! The Word + Faith = Dynamite!

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of Heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of Heaven.
20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of Heaven.
-
Ok, HOW do you get to be more righteous than a Pharisee? They obey every single detail of the law! Don't they? How can a simple layman become more righteous than them?
--- By yielding to God and allowing God's Spirit to live in you! Only the righteousness of God is real righteousness. What the Pharisees had was SELF-righteousness. And when you're self-righteous, you actually think YOU are good! But, there's no such thing! As the Apostle Paul said, "In me there dwells no good thing; that is, in my flesh." But we have the righteousness of God through Jesus.

21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

Note that it doesn't say "if you remember that you have something against your brother", but, "if you remember your brother has something against YOU".

25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whilest thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast if from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

Here is a verse that must be read in the Spirit, Love and Wisdom of God, or else some idiot may take it literally and come up with a really dumb idea like making it into a LAW. I know if my heart that Jesus was NOT saying that if a man steals, his hand should be cut off. NOT. This was just an extreme way of looking at your spiritual condition. Jesus was trying to show people that they should get control of their bodies and not allow sin to rule over them.

31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Again, this is a verse that should be applied with wisdom. Every case should be judged on its own as well.
