Housing Crisis

All over the world, a housing crisis is going on ...and on ...and on..

In the States, the price of housing peaked in 2006 and the housing market crashed in 2008. People lost their homes just like that. I'm sure that losing their homes was a big shock for many of them ---to discover first hand that what you considered "secure" was insecure, that things can turn on a dime. The instability of the economy and home ownership was probably a wake-up call for many Americans at that time.

But, that's not the housing crisis I'm talking about. What I'm talking about is worse. It's waking up in the middle of the night with bombs dropping all around you to find that you no longer have a home to live in. And it's cold outside. Or, waking up in the middle of the night, forced to move out of your home into a leaky bomb shelter.

It's looking out on what used to be your neighborhood to see that it has been flattened. Or, an earthquake has hit and wiped out every structure around you within view. Or, a tsunami just washed everything away, your house, your car, your family. . .

"For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places." - Matthew 24:7

We are living in the time of the end that Jesus was prophesying in Matthew 24.

Anyone who is at all sensitive to the Holy Spirit can feel that whatever security we thought we had no longer exists. If we ever depended on the security of our living conditions in the past, it was foolish to do so. That was a fantasy. Nothing on this earth is secure or dependable, not even a house that you own outright.

There are major earthquakes every week now and smaller ones every day on average. Tsunamis are caused by earthquakes and there have been major tsunamis recently. I believe it's time we started to realize that our lives are insecure, don't you agree?

Jesus said, "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:" - Matthew 6:19

These words spoken by Jesus were never more applicable to more people than they are today. We are at war. Be thankful if things are peaceful for now on your home-front. Just don't expect it to last.

In any battle, those who are prepared, vigilant and alert will have a better chance of surviving. This is no time to bury your head in the sand. It's the attacking initiative that wins the battle. Don't be put on the defensive or taken by surprise.

Man up. Look up, for your redemption draweth nigh.
